My sister and I, both members of the Mack family, have taken on the project of restoration of this wonderful 1922 Mack water truck. It was donated to the San Diego Automotive Museum by the Hazard family of San Diego. The Hazard Construction company used this Mack truck as a "work horse" in their sand and gravel pit business for many years before offering it as a collectors item to the Museum. Paula Brandes and Executive Director of the museum coordinated with the Mack sisters to begin this restoration project 'in house". The work is being performed at a warehouse in Lemon Grove. So, if you are by chance at the San Diego Automotive Museum and wonder what happened to "that cute little red truck that sat out in front", it is in the process of getting a makeover, to give it new rubber tires, and enhances wooded window frames and some other minor repairs. Look for it to be back in place about six months from now. Virginia Mack Wofford
